# Understanding the panel

Where the panel lives, what its sections do and how to animate its settings.

The panel is in the 3D Viewport: press `N`, then open **Jabe Tools > Jabe Rig**.

## What the panel shows

| Situation                              | What you see                                                                |
| -------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| The scene has no Jabe Rig | **No Jabe Rig Found** and an **Add Minecraft Rig** button |
| The scene has rigs, but none is active | **Available Rigs**, a **Select** button for each, and **Add Minecraft Rig** |
| A rig is active | **Rig Detected**, the rig's name and version, then the sections below |

## The four sections

| Section       | What it holds                                                   | Page                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  |
| ------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

| **Bones**     | Show or hide groups of bones                                    | [Bones](/jabe-rig-wiki/documentation/features/bones.md)                                                                                                                                                                                                                               |

| **Display**   | Simplify, subdivision levels, per-part visibility               | [Display](/jabe-rig-wiki/documentation/features/display.md)                                                                                                                                                                                                                           |

**Controls** starts open and the other sections start collapsed. Groups inside them, such as Head Settings or Emotions, collapse too.

## Animating settings

Every setting in the panel is a custom property stored on the rig. Hover over a setting and press `I`, or right-click it and choose **Insert Keyframe**, exactly as you would with any other property. This works for toggles, sliders, colors and dropdowns, including **Arm Type**.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Convert to IK** and **Convert to FK** can key the limb for you. See [IK and FK](/jabe-rig-wiki/documentation/features/ik-and-fk.md).
{% endhint %}

## The setup warning

If the panel shows a **Rig setup incomplete** box, the add-on found something wrong with the rig in your scene. The message tells you what is missing. See [Troubleshooting](/jabe-rig-wiki/documentation/reference/troubleshooting.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://jabe.gitbook.io/jabe-rig-wiki/documentation/getting-started/understanding-the-panel.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
