# Installing the add-on

Install the Jabe Rig add-on in Blender 5.2 or newer.

## Requirements

* Blender **5.2 or newer**. The add-on is still in testing and works correctly on 5.2 and newer.

The rig itself is bundled inside the add-on, so there is nothing else to download.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Get the add-on

[Download the Jabe Rig add-on (jabe\_rig-1.0.0.zip)](https://github.com/jabe-00/jabe-rig/releases/download/v1.0.0/jabe_rig-1.0.0.zip). Do not unzip it: Blender installs the `.zip` file as it is. All versions are listed on the [releases page](https://github.com/jabe-00/jabe-rig/releases).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Install it in Blender

Open **Edit > Preferences**. In the **Get Extensions** tab or the **Add-ons** tab, open the arrow menu in the top-right corner of the window and choose **Install from Disk**. Select the `.zip` file you downloaded. You can also drag the `.zip` into the Blender window.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Enable it

Make sure **Jabe Rig** is ticked in the add-on list.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Open the panel

In the 3D Viewport press `N` to open the sidebar and select the **Jabe Tools** tab. The **Jabe Rig** panel is there.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**Get Extensions** is Blender's online list. You do not need to search it for the Jabe Rig: the add-on is installed from the file you downloaded.
{% endhint %}

## The Add menu

Once enabled, the add-on also adds **Add > Jabe Tools** to the 3D Viewport's Add menu. It is another way to import the rig.

## Next step

Import the rig into your scene.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://jabe.gitbook.io/jabe-rig-wiki/documentation/getting-started/installing-the-add-on.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
