# Display

Subdivision levels for viewport, playback and render, plus per-part visibility.

The **Display** section controls how smooth and how visible each part of the rig is. Smoother parts look better but are slower to animate, so the rig lets you choose a different level for each situation.

## Subdivision Surface

Each part has a **Viewport** level and a **Render** level from 0 to 4. The add-on applies the level to the Subdivision Surface modifier of every object that belongs to that part.

| Part                | Viewport (default) | Render (default) |
| ------------------- | ------------------ | ---------------- |
| Head                | 1                  | 3                |
| Body                | 1                  | 2                |
| Left Arm, Right Arm | 1                  | 2                |
| Left Leg, Right Leg | 1                  | 2                |
| Eyebrows            | 1                  | 2                |
| Eyes                | 2                  | 3                |
| Tongue              | 2                  | 4                |

## Playback Subdivision

Each part also has a **Playback** level, from 0 to 4, **0** by default. Use it to keep the viewport fast while the animation plays.

**Auto Playback Subdivision** is **off** by default. When it is on, the rig automatically switches to the Playback levels while the animation plays and restores the Viewport levels when it stops.

## Viewport Visibility

Six toggles, all **on** by default, show or hide the **Head**, **Body**, **Left Arm**, **Right Arm**, **Left Leg** and **Right Leg** in the viewport.

## Simplify

The **Simplify** group shows Blender's own scene Simplify settings: **Enable Simplify**, and **Max Subdivision** for **Viewport** and **Render**. These belong to the scene, not to the rig, so they affect every object.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://jabe.gitbook.io/jabe-rig-wiki/documentation/features/display.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
